PHIL CARR
It is with considerable sadness that on the weekend of 25th May 2008 the Club learned of the passing of stalwart and former Chairman Phil Carr. Phil was Chairman from 1988 to 1993 and was still a Trustee of the Club, and his untimely passing will be a loss to the entire cricketing community on the Isle of Man.
Phil's greatest legacy will be the work and energy which he and the other Trustees put into the development of the Club and its facilities, which everyone is now able to enjoy at Tromode . They are a tribute to Phil and his tireless efforts in organising and overseeing the Club's move to Tromode from its old King George V premises.
Despite experiencing indifferent health in his latter years Phil maintained a keen interest in the Club and activities at Tromode and was known to have a penchant for dropping in whenever passing to appraise himself of developments.
A minute's silence was observed before the Cronkbourne v Castletown match on Saturday in recognition of Phil's contribution to the sport.
The Club would like to extend its sincere sympathies to Phil's wife Pauline and family and can assure her that Phil's memory will forever live on in the superb facilities which he bore so much responsibility for establishing.
17th May 08 - FIRST XI COME BACK CONTINUES
Crosby are the latest to suffer from the Cronkbourne resurgence. Their bowling was put to the sword as our lads amassed 238 for 5. Of particular pleasure it was great to see Pete Richards back in the middle smashing a terrific 73.Coach Levin also weighed in with a 48 whilst the Crosby bowlers were made to toil.
The Crosby batsman never recovered from a poor start, and although the tail wagged a bit, they were seen off for just 150.
So victory by 88 runs - onwards and upwards.
10th May 08 - FIRST XI HIT FORM
Valkyres CC were the unfortunate victims of a Ramsey backlash as the first XI amassed a very impressive 256 for 4. Steve Clague hit a creditable 67 and Simon Callister weighed in with a characteristic 30, but the story of the day belonged to Island Under 17 all rounder Max Stokoe. His undefeated 101 was his inaugural century in the premier Isle of Man cricket competition and hopefully the first of many for both himself and some of the Club's other emerging youngsters. Not content with that he then proceeded to take 3 Valkyres wickets for 20 runs, ably assisted by his younger sibling Alex who took 3 for 19 in dismissing Valkyres for 134, a victory margin of 122 runs.
This was a much improved result and badly needed after the Ramsey debacle. With the youngsters now beginning to step up to the plate at Tromode it hopefully augurs well for the rest of the season.

3rd MAY 08 -FIRST X1 GET OFF TO POOR START
The first weekend fixture of the season saw the Cronkbourne team come a poor second away to Ramsey. Island player Ollie Webster was in fine form for Ramsey hitting a breezy 87 and helping his team set a target of 227 runs. The only note of encouragement from the Cronkbourne bowlers was debutante Nic Kiesswetter who returned encouraging figures of 5 for 44. In reply Cronkbourne could only manage a paltry 82 with youngster Richard Foden top scoring with 23.
Things can only improve.
