20/7/13:-Valkyres seen off by 9 wickets

Another comfortable victory on Saturday against Valkyres. Some good tight bowling at the outset aided by some keen fielding kept the lid on any ambitions on the part of the Valkyres batsmen to set a challenging total. This yet again set the scene for Big Phil to step in and mop up the tail by mixing up some carefully concealed slower half trackers with his usual outrageous gentle inswingers. He was also aided by some decent catching including one effort from Ally Slack which would have removed his incisors had he not held on to it. Another 4 wicket haul for Big Phil has him heading to the top of the Island bowling averages.
Our reply was again fronted by Dave Smith in characteristically brutal fashion only to become unstuck when he mistook the fielder on the midwicket boundary for a spectator. However Ads McAuley took over the responsibility and with some glorious drives & pull shots which saw him to his 50 we sauntered home in less than half the allocated overs.
Excellent performance – four fixtures left now.
