Jaco goes berserk

Amazing performance by A Team on Saturday 8th June, particularly our “senior” players Jaco Jansen & Phil Richardson. Phil rounded off a much improved bowling and fielding display by ripping through the Ramsey lower order, who it would seem had never before come across slow swinging half volleys. His figures of 5 for 6 show just how mesmerised they were by his genius. This finished off some much tidier bowling from Sam Kebbel and Jamie Salmon and others, complemented by some keen fielding and catching that saw off the top of the Ramsey order and allowed Lips in to administer his coup de grace.

Batting-wise it was the Jansen show as he seemed determined to hit each successive ball harder and further than the previous. He bludgeoned his way to 94 in quick time and was only ultimately denied by picking out the only fielder on the boundary in an attempt to bring up his ton in style. Skipper Stokoe played his own vital role of spectator at the other end amidst the mayhem.

Much more encouraging display from all 12 players in the squad, maybe next time we might even have a scorer organised to record it all.
